About The Pursuit Zone

Paul SchmidmedWhat do you call the area outside of the comfort zone?  It’s called The Pursuit Zone.  The idea behind The Pursuit Zone is to interview people that dream big, get out of their comfort zones, and accomplish ambitious pursuits.

When asked to describe the website with keywords I wrote down these seven:

  • Curiosity
  • Adventure
  • Ambition
  • Strength
  • Optimism
  • Focus
  • Perseverance

I look for people that have a positive and interesting story to tell.  It can be travelers, adventure athletes, authors, filmmakers, or volunteers in remote parts of the world.  These are just a few of many examples.

The Pursuit Zone serves to inspire and challenge people to escape their comfort zones by combining their dreams and ambition with a healthy dose of pursuit.

About Paul Schmid

After the dot-com bubble burst and I was laid off for the first time, I started my first company.  My job was to provide contract programming for the Palm OS.  During this time I wrote two ebooks about Palm programming and sold them online.  I didn’t get rich and the business ultimately failed, but I loved the content creation and the online sales part of the business.  I knew I wanted to do more.

Five years later and back in a real job, I was doing a lot of training around a method known as 5S.  I didn’t see any training materials available for sale so I started my second company and created my own training products.  You can learn more about those at www.oldironmedia.com.  This business is still going strong.

Three years after I started Old Iron Media, I had the idea for The Pursuit Zone.  It took another three years for The Pursuit Zone to evolve into the website and podcast that launched in 2013.  I’m excited to be building content around those that are in passionate pursuit of their goals and pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones.  I hope to inspire others to do the same.
